Business phone pricing index (July 2026)
What 14 business phone providers actually advertise, verified against their live pricing pages every month. Marketing pages quote “starting at” prices that hide annual-billing requirements, mandatory add-ons, and first-year promos; this index records the real published numbers and when each was checked.
Key findings
- Published entry prices span $7 to $27. The cheapest published business plan is Phone2 Basic at $7/mo billed annually (2 users included); the most expensive way to start is Dialpad Standard month-to-month at $27/user/mo.
- RingCentral stopped publishing prices. Every RingEX tier now reads "Contact us for pricing". Its last public list prices (January 2026) were $20/$25/$35 per user per month.
- The monthly-billing penalty is real: Dialpad Standard costs 80% more month-to-month than billed annually, Nextiva Engage costs 100% more, and Quo Business costs 43% more.
- Four providers offer no annual discount at all: Google Voice, Ooma, Vonage, and magicJack advertise monthly prices only.
- Watch the reversion prices: Vonage's advertised rates are first-12-months promos that revert 30% higher; magicJack's $9.99 intro becomes $15.99 after year one.
- Texting is not always included: Grasshopper requires a $19.50 registration fee plus $1.50/mo to enable SMS, and Ooma's entry tier has no texting at all.

Methodology
What counts. Advertised US list prices on each provider's public pricing page: the per-month price billed annually and the per-month price billed monthly, recorded exactly as published, excluding taxes, regulatory fees, and hardware.
Verification. Every row links to the source pricing page and carries the date it was last checked. Pages that render prices only in a browser are verified with a full browser session, not cached snippets. When a provider shows only promotional first-year pricing, the index records the regular price it reverts to and notes the promo.
Phone2's own rows are generated from the same data file that renders the live pricing page, so they cannot drift from what buyers see.
Cadence. The full index is re-verified monthly. Historical snapshots are preserved in the site's version control history, so price changes over time are auditable.

Frequently asked questions
- How much does a business phone line cost per month?
- As of July 2026, published entry-level business phone plans run from $7 per month (Phone2 Basic, billed annually, 2 users included) to $27 per user per month (Dialpad Standard billed monthly). Most mainstream per-user plans cluster between $15 and $20 per user per month on annual billing, before taxes, fees, and add-ons.
- Which business phone providers do not publish their prices?
- RingCentral. As of this check, every RingEX tier (Core, Advanced, Ultra) shows "Contact us for pricing" instead of a number. Its last public list prices, from January 2026, were $20, $25, and $35 per user per month billed annually. Nextiva also gates its top contact-center tiers behind sales.
- How big is the penalty for paying monthly instead of annually?
- It varies widely. Dialpad charges 80% more month-to-month ($27 vs $15). Nextiva Engage doubles ($50 vs $25). Quo charges about 27 to 43% more. Google Voice, Ooma, Vonage, and magicJack advertise monthly prices only, with no annual discount at all.
- What hidden costs should I watch for?
- The most common are: a required base subscription (Google Voice team plans need a paid Google Workspace account on top of the Voice license), SMS registration fees (Grasshopper charges $19.50 one-time plus $1.50 per month to enable texting), first-year promo prices that revert 30 to 60% higher (Vonage, magicJack), and per-feature add-ons like auto attendants or toll-free numbers.
- How is this index maintained?
- Every provider row is re-verified against the provider's live public pricing page each month, and the checked date is recorded per provider. Prices are advertised US list prices excluding taxes and fees. Promotional first-year rates are noted but the index lists the regular price they revert to.
